One of the fondest memories I have of Michael - and in fact one of the funniest childhood memories - is an afternoon that Angela and I spent in his company when we were about 14. Michael took us to a wine bar, which we thought was very "grown up" at the time, where we sat on high stools and ordered "mocktails". Well, Angie and I thought it was fantastic!
But - the best thing by far about the afternoon that I remember - is that we were literally falling about - and almost off - our chairs laughing. Michael's Irish sense of humour, his aptitude for joke-telling and his ability to keep a straight face when telling the most ridiculous punch-lines will stay with me for ever! Just when we were recovering, reeling from one joke and getting into what I thought was going to be a "normal" topic of conversation, Michael told another tall story.
In the end, I think we were literally laughing so much that we had to ask him to stop so that we could breathe!
I think the Curry sense of humour has been passed down through generations, and that Angie's happy-go-lucky and positive outlook has undoubtedly been inherited! I am sure Michael will be looking down from wherever he is - and we best have our wits about us, on the lookout for some practical joke... I'm sure he'll be having a chuckle!! xxx RIP Michael Curry!
